The resin varieties selected for the production of fiberglass grating mainly include unsaturated polyester resin (UP), epoxy resin, phenolic resin, thermosetting resin (furan resin, melamine formaldehyde resin, polybutadiene resin, organic silicon resin, etc.), polyurethane resin, and other thermoplastic resins, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, styrene acrylonitrile resin (SAN or AS resin), ABS resin, polyamide Thermoplastic resins such as polycarbonate, polyoxymethylene, polyimide, modified polyimide, polysulfone, polysulfone ether, polyaryletherketone, polyphenylene sulfide, aromatic polyester, etc.

The most commonly used one is unsaturated polyester resin, due to its wide range of raw materials, low price, simple molding process, low molding temperature, and lower production cost.

There are many varieties and trademarks of unsaturated polyester resin, and their classification situations are also different. According to the classification of product functions, it can be roughly divided into the following types:

1. Universal unsaturated polyester resin

This type of resin is the most widely used resin variety, such as 191, 196 resin, etc.

2. Flexible unsaturated polyester resin

After this resin is made into fiberglass products, their products have good flexibility. Its trademarks are TM182, 304, T541, etc.

3. Elastic unsaturated polyester resin

This resin has high bending strength, is more tough and non brittle, and is suitable for making high-end furniture coatings, as well as machine casings, etc.

4. Chemical resistant unsaturated polyester resin

This type of resin has good corrosion resistance function. Due to the variety of corrosive media, different corrosion-resistant resins can be used for different media. Its trademarks include 197, 3301, 323, MFE-2, etc.

5. Flame retardant unsaturated polyester resin

This type of resin can be divided into two types: synthetic and additive, both of which can achieve flame retardant effects. Its trademarks are: 7901, S-906, TM302, 317, etc.

6. Heat resistant unsaturated polyester resin

This type of resin can be used to make fiberglass products for use at higher temperatures, with a thermal deformation temperature of at least 110 ℃. Its trademarks are TM197, TM199, S685, etc.

7. Light stable and weather resistant unsaturated polyester resin

This type of resin has good resistance to atmospheric aging, can be used for a long time when exposed to sunlight, and still retains a certain degree of functional use. Its trademarks are TM195, S692, F45, 515, etc.

8. Air monotonic unsaturated polyester resin

This type of resin has air drying properties, that is, when exposed to air for curing, its surface will not become sticky, in order to improve its process function and product application function, but its curing conditions are still the same as those of general-purpose unsaturated resins, cured at low temperature or room temperature. Its trademarks are: SGA20, tung acid type unsaturated polyester resin, etc.

9. Cast unsaturated polyester resin

This type of resin is a type of resin with low shrinkage and low heat release. Its primary characteristic is that it will not crack or rupture during casting, which can prevent stress convergence phenomenon. It has a light color and good transparency. Its trademarks are SB39, S793, etc.

10. Unsaturated polyester resin for gel coating (commonly referred to as gel coating resin)

This type of resin is very important in handmade fiberglass products. It not only serves as a protective layer on the surface of fiberglass, but also serves as a decorative surface, playing a very important role. Due to the different application environments and requirements of fiberglass products, it is necessary to choose different varieties of adhesive coating resins according to the actual situation. The current trademarks are TM-33, TM-35, S-739, gel coat 33, etc

11. SMC/BMC specific unsaturated polyester resin (referred to as SMC/BMC specific resin)

The primary characteristics of this type of resin are low viscosity, fast thickening, high activity, rapid curing, good water and heat resistance, and good stability. The current trademarks are: 22, S-816, S-817, etc.

In general, the resin used in our fiberglass grating is classified as unsaturated.
